Memories of Pauline Smith

Some of my first memories in life are with my Grandma, by the creek, telling me about the fairies.  These stories were so vivid and real that I always thought if I could look just a little harder or just a little different I too would see the fairies.  This world was opened up to me at a young age and reinforced through out my lifetime by both my Grandma and Mom, the two greatest and most influential people in my life.  This year I hit a milestone.  I turned the dreaded 50.  However this has been the most exciting, wonderful and surprising year I have had in a long time.

Since I first started writing in the 6th grade, I have written plays, poetry, children’s books and even started on several novels.  I am ashamed to say many of them came to an end with a struck match.  However several have survived my depressions and frustrations.  My favorite is one I wrote several years ago based off a true story that concerned my Grandma, me and the fairies.  This year after years of struggles and rejection slips (I stopped counting at 75 and that was 8 years ago) I am finally going to be published.  What a joy it was to hear that my book had been accepted for publication.  What a thrill it was with heart pounding I signed the contract.  I start this site for my writings and book that will soon be available.  Walk with me through this exciting journey as I remember the struggles, the pain and finally the triumph of being able to say I am a published author.
